What this is
Asset Ledger keeps an inventory of the assets in your game and what their licences require. It reads the licence and readme files you already have, asks you the questions those files do not answer, and produces a credits file and a record of what you shipped.
What this is not
It is not legal advice, and it is not a compliance guarantee. It reports what it read and what you told it. Where a licence is prose, it quotes the sentence and you decide — it will not interpret legal text for you, deliberately. A published credits page and a snapshot are a record of what you believed when you shipped. They are evidence of diligence, not proof of permission.
If you need to know whether you may use something, read the licence, or ask a lawyer. This tool is for not losing track of the question.
Your account
An email address and a password. The address is how you sign in and how you get back in if you forget the password; we confirm it once and send nothing else unless you ask. You also get a recovery code, which is a second way in that does not depend on your inbox still working. Do not use the account for anything unlawful, and do not use the invite or creator-contact features to send mail to people who have not asked to hear from you — those exist so that a creator can confirm terms for their own asset, not as a mailing list.
Your content stays yours. Nothing you enter is used for anything except showing it back to you and to people you share it with. The one exception is the shared pack corpus, which pools pack names and file names across contributors so the tool can recognise common asset packs — never your project, your email, or your artwork, and never in a way that identifies who contributed it.
Paying
The free plan is genuinely free and has no time limit. Paid plans raise the limits on projects, assets, seats and workspaces, and add ongoing source monitoring. Public credits pages and the full export stay free on every plan, permanently — charging for the way out would make everything else here worth less.
Billing is not switched on yet. When it is, it will be handled by Stripe, cancellation will be one click on their pages, and cancelling downgrades you rather than deleting anything.
If this stops
It is one person’s project. It might not last. That is exactly why the export works on every plan without asking, produces plain JSON and Markdown, and needs no account to read — so the honest answer to “what if this shuts down” is a working file on your disk rather than a promise.
Keep an export somewhere with timestamps nobody here controls. Committed next to the code it describes is ideal.
Liability
Provided as-is, with no warranty. Given what it costs and what it claims to do, liability is limited to what you have paid in the last twelve months — which for most people is nothing. That is not an attempt to escape responsibility for the tool working; it is a limit on being held responsible for a licensing decision that was always yours.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the change is announced by email before it takes effect. Earlier versions are kept and will be sent to anyone who asks.
